History of the Institution

The Industrial Training Institute, Kangan is located in the Kangan assembly constituency, district Ganderbal along the National Highway on way to famous tourist place Sonamarg, Leh and Kargil facing the scenic evergreen Himalayan ranges and the famous Sind Nallah, about 02 Km away from the 105 MW Hydroelectric Power Station Kangan. The Institute is about forty kilometers away from Srinagar accessible by well macadamized road maintained by Border Roads Organisation. The institute was established in the year: 2005 and is one among the several women Industrial Training Institutes of Kashmir valley established under the Prime Ministers Reconstruction Programme Phase-I( PMRP-I). The institute is running several long term, short term courses in both part time and full time categories. The institute has been covered under Public Private Partnership Scheme (PPP) in the year 2012 which helps in the infrastructure development and offers several job oriented courses in addition to the courses run under normal scheme. The Institute is running courses like: 1) Secretarial Practice 2) Dress Making 3) Mechanic Consumer Electronics 4) Pre-Preparatory School Management 5) Computer Operator and Programming Assistant. The Institute library has rich collection of books and is equipped with daily newspapers and magazines. The Institute has recently opened a placement cell for placement of trainees.

The infrastructure is being continuously upgraded in terms of latest machinery, tools, equipments, books, learning resources etc. Networking of the computer Lab is in progress in order to provide internet access to the trainees and to the faculty. It will be my Endeavour to make a concerted and collective effort in moving the Industrial Training Institute Kangan towards the newer heights for which it possesses the necessary infrastructure with an objective of making this preferred seat of learning, a model institution in all spheres besides contributing in the socio economic development of the people of nation at large and J&K in particular.
